John Kelly and Gina Lee have begun a crowd-funding campaign on Pozible, with the aim of publishing a book about his Antarctic experience. It promises to be a fascinating book, and the campaign represents an opportunity to offer concrete support – and to get something concrete in return.
“During his 3 month sojourn he produced over 50 paintings, several sketchbooks and 5 essays for The Guardian blog. The paintings will be exhibited at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery from June to September 2015, and it seems an ideal reason to produce a book including not only all the paintings from Antarctica, but also the essays and some stunning photography by experienced expeditioners Justin Chambers and Richard Youd who documented John’s experience in Antarctica. (Thanks guys!)
We will be using the funds to get the book designed, printed and distributed to all you fabulous supporters, and selected bookshops and galleries, including the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery in Hobart. It will be a large, hard cover publication, with full colour throughout on quality paper. The book will retail for $80 so if you get in early, you also get a great discount!”
